recovering file from report server

Hi
Is it possiable to recover a .rdl file from the report server? I deleted a
report file from Visual Studio, but it was succesfully published to the
report server.
Any help is appreciated.

Recover Removed Report

If I remove a report from a project, can it be recovered to that project or
another project? How?Did you just remove it or did you delete it? If you just removed it, you can
right-click on the Reports folder in your Solution Explorer window, click Add
and click Add Existing Item. You can find the folder and click on the
report. If you've deleted it, you'll need to recover the .rpt file from a
backup.

Recordset in Crystal Report 8

The problem:

I have a report performed with the crystal assist.The report is label style and the crystal Reports creates a image of the label for every row in the recordset.The problem occurs when i pass the recordset from the VB 6.

Before printing I create the crystalreport object, the crystalreport datababase object and the crystalreporttable object pointing to the ttx file.But when I execute the CrystalReport preview method, the report dont shows any data.

Here is a sample of teh code:

Set report = app.OpenReport(Path & FicheroRPT)
Set reportDb = report.Database
Set reportTables = reportDb.Tables
Set reportTable = reportTables.Item(1)
Call reportTable.SetPrivateData(3, Data)

Call report.preview

The Report has many detail sections ( from "a" to "v").Could this be the problem.

If anyone can help me...Open the Report and Do Verify Database
Uncheck the option "Saved Data"

hi , i am newbie in crstal report,
I had face a problem when i try to set the formula for selection.

I hope to query record that inv_date and c_date bigger than certain date.
so i set the formula like below:

What happen is the query only select the record inv_date >= certainDate,

I need query either inv_date or c_date >= certainDate.Are you wanting to retrieve records back where both the inv_Date and c_date are >= your "certain date"? If so change your "or" to "and", then you will get back records where both conditions are true.

but the 'or' look like not function, but the 'and' is function.

Records appearing and then disappearing

We have a SQL server db backend for our ERP system. I have written a
Crystal Report to extract data from one particular table called
itemspecbomw (c.30000 records) which contains amongst other things
Bill of Materials costings. When I run the report I know that some
rows are missing as when I look at values through the ERP system
itself, the values are different.

What I have found is that when I run the equivalent ERP system report,
the Crystal Report I have written shows extra rows. SQL Query Analyser
behaves exactly the same as the report I have written even when using
a "select * from". I have tested opening up a bigger tables (c. 700000
records) which appears without a problem. If anyone knows why this
mystery is happening, I woould be grateful for your help.

I don't completely follow your explanation, but you seem to be saying
that QA and Crystal give the same results, but your ERP report gives
different ones? If two tools are giving different results, then the
most likely explanation is that they are submitting different queries.
I would suggest using Profiler to trace the SQL sent to the server by
your ERP application, and then run the same SQL in QA - you may find
that it is constructing a query which is different from what you
expect.

I checked out the query used in the system ERP report, but I found
when I cut'n pasted the query into query analyser and ran it, it
returned the exact same number of records as the one I wrote. It seems
to be a problem with the way I access the db or that the ERP program
has some sort of lock on the table...

RecordNumber by Group?

Hello,

Is it possible to show a record number or count by group? I know the RecordNumber field will show me the number for the whole report but what I would like is the following:

Group A
1
2
3
Group B
1
2
3

Instead of group B being 4,5,6...

I'm trying to figure out how to number the lines per group heading. I hope that makes sense.

Record Selection Formula. Impossible?

I have a problem selecting records in my crystal report. There are two string parameters, dateFrom and dateTo. The record selection formula is:

{payroll_history.dateModified} in CDate({?dateFrom}) to CDate({?dateTo})

When typing in the string parameters in crystal, the report works fine, suggesting the fault is in the parsing from vb to crystal. See code below:

Report.Parameters.getItemByName("dateFrom").setCurrentValue(strDateFrom)
Report.Parameters.getItemByName("dateFrom").setCurrentValue(strDateFrom)

HOWEVER, I can display these parameters on the screen perfectly fine when executing the report from VB. Surely this means the selection formula is incorrect?? But it works from within crystal! Argh!

Any help anyone can give me will be so much appreciated.My first thought is that you have a DateTime field, but are trying to use a string parameter. Is payroll_history.dateModified a DateTime field in the database? If so, you need to pass it a DateTime. Also, if it is DateTime and not just Date, you will need to add the hour which, if you don't use a time, will have to be 00:00:00, so the parameter passed would have to be something like 08/12/2006 00:00:00 or else it won't work.

Record Selection Crystal Reports

I'm trying to get Crystal reports to prompt the user each time they run the report for the company they want to run the report an the date range they want to run the report on. Unfortunatly I can only get it to do the company at run time. In order to filter out the date range and the company I have to use the selection expert which dosent really help my users is there anyway to filter both sets of values when running the report live for the customer?Cant you pass these values thru the Application you are using?

I want my report to output data if any one of three date fields is greater or equal to today.

In my record selection i entered "datefield1" >= currentdate OR "datefield2" >= currentdate OR "datefield3" >= currentdate. However, report itself seems to only act after the first datefield is true and does not output data if the others are true. Crystal seems to ignore the subsequent record selections...

Record navigation

I have created a one-page client summary report. My problem is that I can only get the report to show one client and there are many. How do I add record navigation functionality to my report?

Group your report by the client and then set group to break on each page, you will then have a summary report for each client and this will allow you to navigate to each client page.

I am using data from Microsoft CRM which is housed on a SQL server. Prior to migrating to CRM, we used Access to house/track our sales activities. I had a number of reports that I created in Access and am now trying to re-create in SSRS. Access allows the user to format reports with any layout desired, not limiting to tables, charts and matrices. Using SSRS, I have "dragged and dropped" just as I would for the Access report and it looks the same, just can't get it to show more than one report.
